GMC Baramulla awarded Letter of Permission (LoP) for 100 seats in MBBS course

Baramulla: In a historical move, the Administrative Department of Government Medical College Baramulla (GMC) has finally received letter of permission (LOP) for admission to 100 MBBS seats from current academic session from apex body of Medical Council of India (MCI).

Advisor to Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Vijay Kumar has said that this milestone shall go a long way in delivering quality health care services to whole North Kashmir along with opening new dimensions to academic excellence of the future medicos.

Principal Secretary H&ME Attal Dullo confirmed that Government of India has granted permission for Medical College Baramulla for the upcoming NEET 2019-2020 academic session.

While hailing the efforts of Vijay Kumar and Atal Dullo, Civil Society Baramulla said that establishment of functional GMC Baramulla along with state of art Associated Hospital will ease out the day to day miseries of patients particularly the needy and poor ones.

“The GMC getting formal nod for admission has opened a new horizon in terms of advanced medical care at doorsteps for the general public of whole North Kashmir,” said a civil society member.

The efforts put forth by director Coordination new Medical Colleges Dr. Yashpal Sharma to synergies and coordinate the various activities pertaining to new GMC are exemplary.

Dr. Syed Masood MS DH Baramulla while briefing the media stated that the influx of additional MBBS graduates through NEET will help the promising students to avail medical education within J&K and subsequently the immense dearth of human resource in state’s health sector will be addressed.

He lauded the efforts of Advisor Vijay Kumar and Principal Secretary Atal Dullo who played a significant role in achieving this historic milestone which was languishing since half a decade.
