Tral teenager publishes maiden collection of poetry

Pulwama, Apr 20: A teenager in south Kashmir’s Tral has published his maiden collection of poetry titled “breeze”.

Asrar-ul- Haq, 18, son of Sheikh Abdul Rashid, hails from Tral Township of Pulwama district. He released his book during a launching ceremony at Future Vision Model School on Friday.

Asrar’s collection of poetry is centered on nature. “The book will attract readers towards the essence of nature,” says the teenage author.

[B]reeze has been published by Notion Press in Chennai and is available for sale on e-commerce websites include Amazon and Flipkart.

Asrar says that his teachers and parents appreciated him from the beginning and it was not possible to write the book without their support.

“Writing is new to me as I had a flair for writing since my early childhood. [B]reeze comprises of thirty one poems which I had penned down during my school days,” says Asrar, “the achievement of publishing my first book has encouraged me to write more.”

Asrar says that he draws his inspiration from his father. “My father used to write short stories featuring children. Also my inspiration comes from literary legends liking Dr. Allama Iqbal, Mirza Ghalib, William Wordsworth and last but not least Ghulam Ahmad Mehjoor.”

Head of department English literature Tral Degree College was among the guests at the launch ceremony who added grace to my launch occasion.

Asrar, who is currently working on a novel, writes articles for local dailies also. The teenager is the second budding writer from Tral, after Adnan Shafi, who has published his poetry collection.
