Sopore: A 13-year-old boy who was shot with a pullet gun in north Kashmir’s Duroo village on Thursday evening has been discharged from the hospital.

Talking to Kashmir Images over phone, family members of Hanan said: “Doctors at SMHS have only provided first aid treatment to Hanan and we have been told to take care of Hanan at home for next five days.”

According to local reports, Hanan Hassan (13) son of Gh Hassan Bhat, a resident of Duroo village in Sopore sustained multiple pellet injuries in left eye on Thursday evening.

Witnesses said Hanan was working at an orchard along with his father when government forces fired pellets at the protesters who had attacked the polling staff while withdrawing from the village and meanwhile the young boy received pellets in his left eye.

“He was immediately rushed to Sopore hospital where doctors referred him to SMHS Hospital Srinagar,” they added.

Speaking to Kashmir Images Block Medical Officer(BMO) Sopore, Dr Sami, said,” Five persons who had sustained pellet injuries were brought to sub-district hospital Sopore from different areas of the Sopore area and among them one young boy namely Hanan was shifted to SHMS as his left eye was completely damaged due to pellet injuries.”

When contacted Medical Superintendent at SMHS, Dr Nazir Ahmad Chaudary, told Kashmir Images that doctors have provided first aid treatment to the patient for quick relief and the decision to operate him has not been taken yet.
