Skandan visits Valley’s first Rural BPO at Bandipora

BANDIPORA, MARCH 15: Advisor to Governor K. Skandan Friday visited the Valley’s first Rural Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) at Bandipora and took a first-hand stock of its functioning.

Officials on the occasion informed the Advisor that the BPO has attracted several investors, entrepreneurs and IT companies and after due process, a private company has been selected to run the Centre.

He was also informed that a large number of educated youth turned up to appear in walk-in interview for the recruitment at Rural BPO Bandipora. Officials said once the end-to-end networking is complete the BPO will start its first batch of training at initial stage who will later start working in the same BPO.

Advisor K. Skandan said the Rural BPO / Call Centre along with IT Enabled Skills Lab will provide employment to more than 250 skilled youth and will train 600 educated youth annually for placement in IT sector. He said it will attract entrepreneurs, investors and MNCs in the IT/ITES BPO (voice/non-voice) to establish their business units in Kashmir. He said the project will also provide an employment-oriented investment atmosphere in Kashmir valley.

While stressing on the officials to expedite the process so that business at the Centre is started at earliest, Advisor Skandan assured all possible assistance from the Governor’s administration to ensure the success of the project.

He said the government will provide better infrastructure for the companies besides Industry Standard Fiber optic connectivity from 2 ISPs, Skill development/ Employee training incentive, 100% Power supply back up. He said the private company shall work with district administration by providing required human resources and other technical support.

He said the BPO will also reach out for identifying more IT/ITES entrepreneurs to operate business in the district and shall also work with the designated faculty of District e-Governance Society and other educational institutions to enable them to prepare for IT industry.
