Pulwama, Mar 15: The residents of Tahab village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday morning padlocked the Public Health Centre (PHC) located in their village.

According to locals, the step was taken as a mark of protest over the prolonged absence of a medical officer. “Doctor who is posted at the PHC remain absent on most of the days and whenever he shows up here, he comes late and leave early in the afternoon,” they said.

When contacted Block Medical Officer (BMO), Dr Ramesh, said: “A notice has been issued against the absent doctor wherein he has been directed to resume his duty.”

“I have informed CMO Pulwama to look into the matter and meanwhile other doctors are treating the patients,” he added.

CMO Pulwama told Kashmir Images that they have taken cognizance of the issue.
