“We were promised that the leased land would be relinquished after 20 years but the promise was never fulfilled and we were compelled to bring stay order from the High Court,” they said.

“Besides, ‘Bulgaria farm’ land, another 100 Kanals of land in our village were acquired by the home department for construction of IRP police line and now the district administration is planning to construct a Degree College in our area for which they have to acquire around 30 Kanals but the revenue department has estimated 88 Kanals and 10 Marlas for the said purpose,” they added.

When contact Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Zainapora said: “A minimum of 60 kanals of land is a prerequisite for constructing any Degree College. The government has taken the decision only after proper consultations with all the concerned authorities.”

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian told Kashmir Images that nobody has approached him with any sort of opposition regarding the construction of Degree College at Reshipora village. “Let me look into the matter,” he said.
