They said Shahid’s body had visible torture marks.

“We don’t know what actually happened, however there were visible burn marks on his body which clearly indicate that he has been tortured after being kidnapped,” a relative of the deceased said.

Demanding justice, the family members asked police to expedite the investigation so that guilty are brought to book.

Confirming the incident, Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station Harwan, Zaffar Iqbal, told ‘Kashmir Images’ that the youth as per preliminary investigation, was beaten to death by some local youths.

He said the police have initiated investigation and the case is being probed from all angles to ascertain whether the youth was murdered after being kidnapped or he was beaten.

He said some suspects have also been called to the police station whose questioning is on to crack the case.

“A formal case has been registered and investigation set into motion. We have also called some suspects to police station who are being questioned,” the SHO added.
