MLA Bandipora inaugurates FFT prog

BANDIPORA, MARCH 08: The Department of Fisheries, Bandipora today organised a 2- day Fish Farmers Training Programme (FFTP) at Bandipora under ATMA Scheme.

Member Legislative Assembly Bandipora, Usman Majeed, who was the chief guest on the occasion, inaugurated the training programme. The Assistant Director (AD) Fisheries, Sajad Hussain, Chief Agriculture Officer Mohammad Qasim, Technical experts of the department, concerned officers and a large number of fish farmers attended the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA said that the district Bandipora has a larger scope of fish rearing as against other areas of the valley because of availability of abundant natural water resources in the district. He urged upon the concerned officers to make added efforts for giving a boost to the fisheries sector in the district and stressed that all the programmes launched at the national level should be implemented in the district as well.

The AD Fisheries on the occasion briefed about the efforts put in place by the department to give a flip to this sector. He said various new and innovative schemes have been launched which are showing better results at grass root level. He said Rs. 22.96 Lacs have been expended on different welfare schemes during the current financial year. While as one new project for trout hatchery and trout feed has been approved for the district.

Later the MLA at another function organised by Municipal Committee Bandipora donated a Toeing Van costing Rs.10.15 lacs to the Municipal Committee Bandipora. The funds for the van have been provided by MLA under CDF.

The Executive Officer Municipal Committee, Bandipora Wali Mohammad Wani, concerned officers and other people attended the function.

On the occasion, the MLA said that the Towing Van will pave way for smooth traffic management in Bandipora and will ease out the traffic conjunction in the market. He said Municipal committee was facing a lot of difficulties in removing the illegal parking for want of the said van.
