Srinagar, February 23: National Conference Saturday hit streets here to protest attacks on Kashmiri people within and outside Jammu and Kashmir.

Led by party General Secretary, Ali Mohammad Sagar, dozens of NC workers including women amid anti BJP slogans took out a rally from party headquarters to TRC Crossing to protest continuous harassment of Kashmiri people.

Carrying banners and placards which read “stop violence, don’t target innocent Kashmiris” the protesters demanded immediate end o violence against Kashmiris and stern punishment against those elements vitiating peaceful atmosphere.

They said the attacks on Kashmiris are being carried out under a well thought-out conspiracy to woo voters ahead of upcoming parliamentary elections.

Others who participated in the protest rally include NC Additional General Secretary, Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Women’s Wing President, Shameema Firdous and Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani.

Denouncing deliberate communal divide and unprovoked attacks on Kashmiri students and traders outside state, NC General Secretary, Ali Mohammad Sagar said these are deliberate attempts to spoil peace in the region.

He said the attacks on Kashmiri people in the aftermath of Pulwama attacks are being carried out under a well planned conspiracy to divide the state on communal and regional lines.

“Aren’t we Indians, why Kashmiris are treated as outsiders in India? We have witnessed such attacks and communal flare-up in past as well but these attempts will not suppress this nation at all,” Sagar added.

The protesters later dispersed off peacefully with an appeal to the civil society of India to play their role in preventing the vicious cycle of violence from spreading further.
