Javaid Mir reviews status of recruitment, construction of residential quarters

JAMMU, MARCH 07: The Minister for Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Floriculture, Javaid Mustafa Mir today chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress made in the recruitment of Kashmiri Migrants under the Prime Minister’s Special Employment Package and land acquisition for construction of residential accommodation for employees in different districts of Kashmir valley.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Home, R K Goyal, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Khan, Chairman JKSSRB, Simrandeep Singh, Law Secretary, Abdul Majid Bhat, Relief Commissioner, M L Raina and other senior officers of Relief and Rehabilitation Department.

The Minister was informed that the recruitment is being made for 3000 posts in Education, Social Welfare, Finance, Engineering, Tourism, Health, Relief and Revenue and other departments.

It was informed that 500 posts have been reserved for the Kashmiri Pandits who didn`t migrate from their original place of residence, while 2500 posts have been referred to the concerned recruiting agencies to make selection on mission mode basis.  It was informed the recruitment against already referred posts is likely to be completed by the end of June, while the remaining vacancies would be referred to the recruiting agencies after seeking clarification on certain matters from the concerned departments.

The Minister directed the Relief Commissioner to conduct recruitment of IV class employees on fast track mode adding the state government is committed to extend all benefits to the migrants at the earliest.

“The state government is committed to facilitate return of migrant Kashmiri Pandits to the valley with dignity and honour,” Mir said adding that the employment package forms a major confidence building measure for dignified return of the migrants to their homes and hearths. He directed for making concerted efforts for early selection of eligible migrant youths so that they can serve in different parts of the valley.

Meanwhile, the Minister also reviewed the status of land acquired for construction of residential accommodation for migrant employees in different Districts of Kashmir Division. The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir gave a detailed resume about the progress made in this regard.

The minister asked the Divisional Commissioner to identify the old structures of the migrants in all Districts of Kashmir and take steps to protect these heritage buildings for posterity as these represent distinct Kashmiri culture.
