Srinagar: The Army today paid tributes to Late Havildar Baljeet who was killed during an encounter with militants at Village Ratnipora of Pulwama District.

“In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen KJS Dhillon, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks paid homage to the martyr on behalf of a proud nation. In a show of solidarity, representatives from other security agencies were also present to pay their last respects to the martyr,” a defense spokesman said.

Late Havildar Baljeet, sustained bullet injuries during a fierce operation at Ratnipora village. He was provided immediate first aid and evacuated to 92 Base Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.

He was 35 years old and had joined the Army in 2002. He belonged to Village Dinger Majra of Karnal District, Haryana and is survived by his wife, daughter and son.

The mortal remains of the slain soldier were taken for last rites to his native place.
