Army, FTII conducts screen acting course for youth of B’la

Baramulla, Jan 23: The Indian Army in collaboration with Films and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune organised Second Screen Acting Course under their flagship Programme, Skilling in Films and Television (SKIFT) on Wednesday here.

According to a statement issued by Army’s Dagger Division, the course was conducted from 01 to 23 January 2019 in Baramulla district for Kashmiri youth having flare for acting by the Local Rashtriya Rifle Battalion of Himalayan Brigade under the aegis of Army’s Dagger Division.

“The event was graced by Major General Gulab Singh Rawat, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Dagger Division, dignitaries from civil, district administration and senior Army and Police Officers,” reads the statement.

“FTII has added new dimension to Army’s continued effort towards building bridges with Awam, nurturing cultural heritage and identifying young talent among the youth of the valley.  The course will channelize the abundant creative energies of the youth of Baramulla, while opening several avenues for future employment to the youth,” it added.

The statement further said that Major General Gulab Singh Rawat while speaking on the occasion appreciated the efforts of FTII and the team conducting course in Screen Acting Course in Baramulla for providing a platform to the youth and for giving them an opportunity to learn basics of acting in Baramulla itself.  He highlighted that such events provide good employment opportunities to the youth and thanked FTII for taking this initiative and assured the youth that more such courses would continue to be conducted in Baramulla.
