JAMMU, JANUARY 3: Sheetal Nanda, Secretary, Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Ms. Nanda briefed Governor about the to-date status of various ongoing schemes in the Rural Development Department and about the training programmes being conducted for Panchs and Sarpanchs who have been elected in recently concluded elections to Panchayats.
Governor emphasized the need to empower the institution of Panchayats for strengthening democracy at the grass root level and ushering rural areas towards holistic development. He urged Ms. Nanda to ensure every possible effort towards Rural development.
