Srinagar, January 01: Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) on Monday asked authorities in Simla to initiate strict action against what they called ‘goons’ for allegedly assaulting Kashmiri businessmen in Simla last week.

Addressing media, KCCI President Sheikh Aashiq demanded that a high level delegation should be deputed to Simla to assess losses suffered by the Kashmiri businessmen in said attack.

“We fail to understand that why Himachal police did not initiate action against the culprits who vandalized shops and roughed up Kashmiri businessmen,” he said, adding, “We demand that guilty should be brought to book.”

KCCI President also said despite videos available on social media, police failed to act against the attackers for unknown reasons.

Condemning the assault, he said the way Himachal police took decision to engage forensic experts to probe killing of bovine; it would also ensure stringent actions against the miscreants who took law into their hands.

“We demand Governor Administration to depute high level team including representatives from KCCI to Simla for assessing the losses and to ensure safeguarding of lives and properties of Kashmiri traders,” he added.

He appealed the Jammu and Kashmir police to register an FIR against the people who indulge in hate speeches and resort to physical violence on Kashmiri businessmen operating in different parts of India.
