Missing girl found dead in Ganderbal

Ganderbal, Dec 27: The dead body of a girl who went missing on December 25 was recovered on Thursday from a power canal at Panzin area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

A police official said that a 20-year-old girl identified as Rubeena Bano, daughter of Nazir Ahmad Tandooli, a resident of Wooder Kangan was missing since December 25 and the family members had registered a missing complaint at police station Kangan.

“After hectic efforts by two employees of Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC) Nawaz Ahamd Shah and Fayaz Ahmad Mir, the Dead body was retrieved from the canal at Panzin area and shifted it to truma Hospital Kangan for autopsy,” he said.

Officials said that after conducting postmortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites.

Station House Officer Kangan Police Station Khurshid Ahmad said that a case under relevant sections has been registered. “We are investigating the case through different ways and waiting for postmortem report to know the facts,” he added.
