J&K stands tall with 36 medals in ‘Style National Karate Championship’

Srinagar, Dec 27: It was a festive mood in J&K as the J&K Karate team and its players had a big smile to present when they returned from Punjab after exhibiting dominance in recently concluded ‘Style  National Karate  Championship’ held in Punjab.

J&K didn’t disappoint its supporters as the team bagged 12 Gold, 13 silver and 11 bronze in various style categories.

J&K girls Karate team caught the eye balls in the Championship and remained head to head on medals tally.

Expressing Jubilation on the achievement, Sensei Umesh Rekhi Style Chief DHAMIKA KAI J&K, currently team head of J&K said, “Despite many odds our performance was at par with other states only punjab gave us stiff competition. Karate is biggest medal getter for J&K in all sports. We will work more hard to raise standard of Karate in J&K.”

Renowned Sensei Mujahid Yaqob who is currently Team Manager of J&K said, “Feeling proud to be part of the team. It is big thing for me. These type of Style national Championship helps to sharpen the techniques of Kumati and Kate and develop confidence of players. J&K has lot of talent only thing is we have to hunt it and develop.”

Iqra Rasool, a Silver Medal winner from J&K said, “I worked very hard throughout the year for the Championship. My hard work has paid off. My parents are very happy with my achievement and I will continue to improve.”

It is pertinent to mention here that National Dojo acadmy has big to play in the success of J&K team. The academy players won 11 medals.
