Commissioner Secy PWD reviews progress on mega projects in Rajouri

RAJOURI, DECEMBER 22: Commissioner Secretary Public Works Department Khurshid Ahmed Shah today inspected pace of work on mega development projects coming up in Rajouri.

The Secretary, accompanied by a team of senior engineers, visited the Government Medical College Rajouri and inspected the work on the main building, administrative unit and hostels being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 139 crore. He directed the executing agency to expedite the work and complete the project within stipulated time.

He also asked the executing agency for the beautification of the premises of the upcoming Medical College and directed for preparation and submission of a Detailed Project Report in this regard.

He also directed the concerned engineers to pace up work on the hostel blocks and also start the work on the residential quarters.

Meanwhile, Commissioner Secretary also visited Manajakote area to take the first-hand appraisal of the Irwin Khater Bridge which holds a great significance in rural connectivity.

Pertinently, the bridge was sanctioned under the languishing projects at an estimated cost of Rs 2.53crore and would benefit around 30000 souls. He directed the executing agency to complete the bridge within the shortest possible time.

Meanwhile, the Secretary also chaired a meeting whereat the SE,  PWD Rajouri-Poonch circle, gave a power point presentation on physical achievements in the current financial year in the twin border districts.

It was informed that under languishing projects 16 bridges and 61 roads have been approved at an estimated cost of Rs 125. 66 crore. The work on most of the projects has been started and is at different staged of execution, while the tenders have been floated for remaining projects, the meeting was told.

It was also given out that out of 16 bridges under the languishing projects, 8 will be completed by end-March and the remaining 8 by June 2019.

The meeting was briefed that work on most of the roads has been started and for remaining tenders have been floated. It was also informed that all the projects under NABARD are in progress.

While taking stock of development projects in Poonch, it was informed that 11 bridges and 22 roads have been approved under languishing   projects. It was said that work on all the projects are in progress and will be completed in the stipulated time frame.

The Commissioner Secretary also reviewed the physical and financial progress under CRF, District Plan besides construction of bunkers in the twin border districts.

He also took a detailed review of PMGSY Rajouri and Poonch. He directed the concerned executive engineers to reflect their progress on the software and adopt the latest cold blacktopping technology. He also advised them to maintain the quality of the works and all the labs should be established by December end.

The Commissioner Secretary impressed upon the executing agencies for timely completion of the vital projects as the same hold significance for facilitating people in terms of connectivity, enhanced medical facilities besides adequate infrastructure for sports activity.

Detailed discussions were also held on various issues related to the effective implementation of vital schemes and projects in the district. The Commissioner Secretary directed the concerned officers to mobilize all the sources for effective and timely completion of developmental projects.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Chief engineer PWD, PMGSY SE PWD Rajouri-Poonch, Exen PWD Rajouri, Nowshera and Poonch, Exen PMGSY Rajouri, Budhal and Poonch and the Assistant Executive Engineers and Assistant Engineers from Rajouri and Poonch.
