Farooq Shah reviews status of languishing PHE, I&FC projects of Samba, Udhampur, Kathua

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 22: The   Secretary PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control (I&FC) and DMRRR, Farooq Ahmad Shah Thursday directed for time-bound completion of all the languishing and new water supply projects in Samba, Udhampur, and Kathua districts of Jammu Division.

The Secretary gave the direction during a high-level meeting convened to review the status of various languishing and new water supply projects constructed in the three districts.

Shah was informed that in Samba 15 languishing projects of PHE have been approved at a cost of Rs.23.33 crore of which 5 projects will be completed by March 2019 and remaining projects would be completed by next year. While as irrigation projects would be completed during the same period.

He was informed that in Kathua 14 languishing projects of PHE have been approved at a cost of Rs.20.60 crore of which 3 projects will be completed by March 2019 and remaining projects would be completed by next year. While as irrigation projects would be completed during the same period

Whereas, in Udhampur 22 languishing projects of PHE have been approved at a cost of Rs.46.27 crore of which 11 projects will be completed by March 2019 and remaining projects would be completed next year. While as Irrigation projects would be completed during the same period.

The meeting was also informed that in Samba, Kathua and Udhampur districts each habitation will be provided potable drinking water facilities by October 2019.

On the occasion, the Secretary stressed upon officials to gear up their men and machinery and speed up work at grass root level so that people get clean drinking water and better irrigation facilities through the projects at an earliest.

Shah said that all the languishing projects should be strictly completed within the stipulated time frame. He also asked them to complete the fixed targets well in time and also stressed for judicious and transparency in the execution of the projects.

He emphasized upon all the officers and engineers of the PHE and I&FC Departments to work with added zeal and zest in order to ensure timely completion of all the languishing projects.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Engineer, PHE, Jammu, Ashok Gandotra, Chief Engineer I&FC Vinod Gupta Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers and other officers of the allied departments.
