Dr Samoon reviews functioning of Fisheries Department

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 22: Principal Secretary Animal, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries and Transport Departments, Dr Asgar Samoon today convened a meeting with Officers of Fisheries Department to review progress of expenditure under State Capex Budget.

During the meeting, Dr Samoon instructed Joint Director Fisheries to furnish a report immediately indicating item wise physical and financial progress of works. He also emphasized for timely submission of Utilization certificates so that more funds could be released.

Principal Secretary was informed that 8 lac green eggs have been planted at Panzith Dachigam, Kokernag, Khag and Mamer. He was also informed that 2 new varieties of fish viz Pangas and Pacu have been introduced at Domi Fish Farm Jammu. He was informed that Retail Fish Outlets have been established at Rajouri, Pulwama and Kathua. Dr. Samoon instructed that construction of Retail fish market Narwal should be expedited and completed within timelines.

Dr. Samoon was further informed that 200 low cost houses / 20 auto rickshaws / 1200 bicycles / 30 trout raceways/ 10 hectors of carp fish ponds shall be distributed /established for betterment of fisheries farmers.

Principal Secretary expressed satisfaction for undertaking insurance of 15500 fishermen under Blue Revolution. Principal Secretary also reviewed finalization of Fisheries Act Rules and asked representatives from Industries/ PHE to furnish their comments on priority so that rules could be finalized this month.
