Farooq Shah reviews ongoing I&FC projects

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 16: Secretary, Public Health Engineering (PHE), Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) and Relief and Rehabilitation, Farooq Ahmed Shah, today held a meeting with a team from Central Water Ministry and other officials to review the status of various ongoing projects of I&FC department in Kashmir division.

Chief Engineer, Central Water Commission, Atul Jain, Senior Joint Commissioner, Indus Wing, Arvind Kumar Aggarwal, Director Central Water Commission, Jammu, Yoki Vijay, Deputy Director Central Water Commission, Jammu, Rakesh Gupta and Deputy commissioner Central Water Wing, Jammu, Rajveer Singh attended the meeting. The meeting was also attended by Chief Engineer, I&FC, Abdul Waheed, SEs and Exens from Kashmir division.

While reviewing the progress of various Irrigation projects, Secretary directed all the concerned officials to complete all the existing schemes in a time bound manner. He said that no delay will be acceptable, as these projects holds great significance in the Division.

On the occasion, Shah discussed various proposed schemes with the team from Central Water Ministry. The team impressed upon the engineers of the Irrigation department to submit DPR for various schemes on the revised format at an earliest, to get the approval from the Central Water Ministry.

The team made it clear that the funding from Central Government shall not be a constraint for achieving the desired irrigation potential within the Indus Water Treaty.
