Baramulla: Villagers of Manjgaran (Manzgam) and adjoining villages of Boniyar Tehsil in Baramulla district are facing lot of hardships and inconvenience as the only road link which connects the village and other adjoining villages to the main highway at Gantamulla colony is in dilapidated condition.

The link road is rife with potholes and results in accumulation of water which makes traffic and pedestrian movement difficult.

With elected representatives and concerned officials paying little attention to carry out repair and maintenance works, the road continues to be in shambles.

“We find it extremely difficult to travel and drive two-wheelers due to the poor condition of roads. Besides causing body ache, patients suffer most in rainy season. The private car drivers and two-wheelers often face grave problems,” said Sajid Khan, a local resident.

The villages which fall along the road include Zehanpora, Manzgam, Naganori,Ijara,Phelipora and Mugam, Kachidari ,Manjgraan. People from all the villages complain that they are facing immense problems due to the road’s bad condition.

“We appeal to the concerned authorities to look into the matter and take speedy action in this regard as the locals are facing a lot of problems due to pathetic condition of the only road link to the area,” another local Shabir Ahmed said.

When contacted Executive Engineer PMGSY, Tariq Ahmed, he said that work on the road is under progress and matter will be taken up with concerned Junior Engineer.

“We will maintain the road and work on the road is under progress but there is sometimes shortage of funds which hampers the work,” said Tariq Ahmed, Exen PMSGY.
