BARAMULLA, NOVEMBER 09: District Legal Services Authority Baramulla today observed ‘National Legal Services Day’ at Dak Bungalow with Principal District and Sessions Judge Rajesh Shekri (Chairman DLSA) as the Chief Guest.

Sub-Judge Baramulla who is also Chairman of Tehsil Legal Services Committee Baramulla was the guest of honor on the occasion.

The programme was organized by the Secretary DLSA Fayaz Ahmad Qureshi who is also Munsiff Judge Baramulla.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest Principal District and Sessions Judge Baramulla highlighted the significance of the programme and said that the main focus of celebrating the day is to educate a common man about his rights and privileges. He stressed for active participation in various legal aid services and impressed for organizing the programme at grass root levels.

Terming Legal Services Authority as an institution of empowering the weaker sections, the Chief Guest said that the need of the hour is to disseminate awareness especially in remote and far-flung areas regarding its services so that speedy and free justice is delivered.

While delivering his valedictory speech Secretary DLSA Fayaz Ahmad Qureshi urged for imbibing more vibrancy in legal services and said that such programmes help in educating people regarding relevant laws and legislation. He hailed the concerned for their participation in the day-long programme. Moreover, he enumerated the activities of DLSA and said that 48 paralegal volunteers and 17 Retrainer Lawyers are actively participating in its activities besides establishment of Village Legal Services Committee for fostering legal services among the masses.

On the occasion, a panel discussion on legal aid was held in which various speakers and legal experts participated wherein emphasis was laid on the significance of the day and underlined the importance of various legal services in delivering justice to the weak and marginalized sections of the society.

District Social Welfare Officer Baramulla and Assistant Director FCS&CA also spoke on the occasion where they highlighted the benefits of various centrally and state-sponsored schemes being implemented in the district. Moreover, Paralegal Volunteers, Lawyers, Legal experts, ASHA and Anganwardi workers and various others were present on the occasion.
