DC Bandipora holds public interaction program at Nowgam, Ganastan

BANDIPORA, NOVEMBER 02: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary on Thursday held a public interaction program in Nowgam and Ganastan blocks of Bandipora district and listened to the public grievances.

Several delegations and individuals called on the Deputy Commissioner and apprised him about various problems faced by them in their respective areas and put forward various demands.

He was accompanied by SP Bandipora Sheikh Zulfikar Azad, ACD Bandipora Jahangir Khandey, Nodal Officer ISM Bandipora, Dr Iftikhar and other senior officers of the district.

At Nowgam, Dr Choudhary directed the officials to provide ration cards to the left out households within two days after due process.

He also announced a grant of Rs 2 lakh for the development of playfield at Zalpora after youngsters of the area flagged this issue. He directed the concerned officials to start work immediately so that the playfield can be ready for the youth of the area at earliest.

DC Bandipora also assured the people that a primary school will be soon opened in Rakh-e-Asham and shall start from the next session.

Various delegations also demanded backward status for Nowgam block. Dr Choudhary assured them that he will put up the case before concerned authority after proper survey.

On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora informed the public that various developmental projects are under execution in Nowgam block and many more projects are in pipeline.

He said work is in progress on 5X40 metres steel Girder Bridge over Nallah Ferozpora at Zalpora while the work on New Type Public Health Centre (NTPHC) has been completed in Nowgam block and an amount of Rs 1.81 crore has been spent on the project.

Under District sector, up-gradation of 5-kilometre road from Nowgam Junction to Nowgam Payeen and 6-kilometres Nowgam-Zalpora road is under execution. It was given out that work is also under progress for the up-gradation of Sonburn Ankhul road and inner links of Rakhi Mohalla Ankhul, Bon Mohalla and Manz Mohalla at Sonburn under NABARD.

At Ganastan, people put forward demands regarding lack transport facility, lack of infrastructure in schools, the absence of Vermi-compost units, and cleanliness of water bodies, flood relief and development of inner link roads.

DC Bandipora assured the delegations that sufficient funds are going to be released through Panchayats for the development of rural areas. He also assured that the pending flood relief shall be released immediately.

During the interaction, officials informed that up-gradation of 15-kilometres inner links at Ganastan and Check-e-Ganastan Naribal road and allied links in progress under NABARD while tenders have been invited for construction of Shilvat-Ganastan road.

Deputy Commissioner said sustained efforts are afoot to accelerate the pace of development in the district to provide people with all modern facilities especially living in far-flung areas to make their lives more comfortable.

Appealing people to become active stakeholders in effective implementation of developmental programmes at the grassroots level, Dr Choudhary urged the people to keep track of the developmental activities taking place in their respective areas to ensure that quality is maintained.

During the interaction at both the blocks, various delegations apprised DC Bandipora about issues confronting them in different sectors including PHE, electricity, Health, and renovation of roads, up-gradation of lanes and drains.

Dr Choudhary gave a patient hearing to the delegations and assured that steps will be taken to mitigate their problems and that education and health care will be a top priority area.

He said that the aim of conducting this programme is to address public grievances at grass root level and instead of public coming to Government offices, administration reach out to the people at their doorstep to listen to their grievances.

Assuring early action on genuine demands, the Deputy Commissioner said the Government is committed to development and welfare of the people he keen interest is being taken to mitigate the problems faced by the public especially those living in far-flung areas of the state.
