Mehbooba e-inaugurates Women’s EDI at Jammu, Srinagar

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 26: As a gift to facilitate their activities, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today e inaugurated two Centres for Women Entrepreneurship for Jammu and Srinagar.

The foundation for Women Entrepreneurship Jammu was laid by the Chief Minister at Bari Brahmana, Jammu in July last year and the first phase of it has been almost completed.

The Women’s EDI, Srinagar has been established at the erstwhile premises of Directorate of Industries & Commerce, Srinagar. The facilities available at these centres include information and awareness about various business-related schemes, incentives and other benefits.

The Chief Minister while complimenting the women entrepreneurs of Jammu and Srinagar hoped these centres would become hub of information and activities for them.

Pertinently, due to the strenuous efforts of the Chief Minister, the percentage of women entrepreneurs has gone up from 16 % to 23%.

The aim of setting up these centres has been to motivate and encourage women entrepreneurs and make them aware about the schemes, incentives and other facilities for doing business in the State.

Minister for Education, Syed Altaf Bukhari and Commissioner-Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Shailendra Kumar were present on the occasion whileas Minister of State for Industries, Asiea Naqash and Director, EDI, Dr. M I Parray were present at Women’s EDI, Jammu and Director Industries, Kashmir, Bilal Ahmad and a large number of women entrepreneurs were present at Srinagar Women’s EDI, Kashmir.
