BUDGAM, OCTOBER 26: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Budgam Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today chaired a meeting to finalize the arrangements for the successful conduct of free legal service mela to be held at Sports stadium here on October 28.

The legal service mela is being organized by the District Legal Service Authority Budgam in collaboration with district administration Budgam.

Chief Justice Jammu and Kashmir High Court Justice Gita Mittal will be the chief guest on the occasion.

While reviewing the arrangements, the DDC was informed that as many as 1500 beneficiaries identified and sponsored by concerned departments would be provided free services and legal aid and other benefits under various departmental schemes during the Mela.

Taking the department wise review of the preparations, the DDC directed the concerned sectoral and district officers to work in close coordination with each other to ensure the smooth conduct of the Mela.

The meeting was informed that as many as 34 stalls would be set up where department wise services, schemes and achievements would be demonstrated and showcased before the expected gathering attending the Mela.

The DDC emphasized for creating maximum awareness about employment generation schemes by the concerned departments among the general public and ensure free legal services to a large chunk of beneficiaries, particularly underprivileged who can’t afford to hire private lawyers to avail the benefits under various schemes.

Among others, the meeting was attended by Judicial Magistrate Budgam Tabasum Qadir Parray, ADC Budgam, Khurshid Ahmad Shah, all SDMs and other sectoral and district officers.
