Srinagar, October 20: Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik on Saturday condemned the killing of a pregnant lady Firdousa, wife of Khursheed Ahmed Sheikh of Shadimarg, Pulwama, in an exchange of fire.

JRL in a statement issued here said: “the gory incident in which Firdousa was killed who was pregnant by six months reflects the nature of atrocities being inflicted on the people of Kashmir.” The JRL prayed to Almighty to grant patience to the husband of slain Firdousa and to give her highest standards in Janah. It is pertinent to mention, Geelani and Mirwaiz continued to remain under house confinement while as Muhammad Yasin Malik was released this morning.

The leadership termed the ‘brutal thrashing’ of at least people including two women at Trichal Pulwama at the hands of forces, who went berserk as ‘the worst form of state terrorism and the direct outcome of the unbridled powers given to the armed forces in Kashmir’. They said in absence of any accountability forces are killing, maiming and thrashing the people of their choice anywhere and anytime at their wish and will.

JRL said that “Kashmir is going through the blackest chapter of the history where in people are killed, youth thrashed, maimed, people of all ages subjected to torture and detention, properties vandalized and that resistance leadership are either confined to their house or lodged in various jails so that they are barred from raising voice against the ultimate oppression unleashed by the lakhs of forces across the Valley.”

“Kashmir is witnessed the vicious cycle of killing of youth and there is hardly any day when youth are not killed on one or the other pretext and the streets of Kashmir are turned red almost every day,” JRL said.
