“The schools though stood firm amidst the flood but are not in a position where classes can be conducted. Similarly though water is supplied to majority of the areas that were affected yet few villages are still suffering for lack of it,” said the locals.

They say that the administration of the area worked diligently and people still applaud them of their work.

“However, despite their (administration’s) their sincere and selfless efforts, Karnah has a long way to go to reach the same level as it was pre-disaster,” say the locals.

Primary schools, Middle schools as well as high schools of Nechian were mostly flooded. Though the classes are being conducted but the buildings need more days to renovate. High School Nechian had its labs destroyed including few compute.

The other schools include AGS Hajinar, Middle School Hajinar, High school Tangdhar, Middle School Chaar Muhalla Khawarpara are also in the same condition.

Ab Rahman Baddana, ex MLC and senior PDP leader, also validated the loss of public institutions and said education sector was worst affected by the flood.

Sumo Union President, Ab Majeed said the transport though has been restored but the roads are not in a position to sustain the traffic for the longer run and need to be either renovated or rebuild.

PHE sector did their share of work to ensure water is supplied to all households yet there are few places where it couldn’t be ensured due to  standing paddy crop and is possible only post harvest which they committed to.

Irrigation facility is almost ensured with little work to further it. Electricity was ensured within 3 days despite fall of many poles carrying 33kv lines.

There were two casualties including Dilbag Singh who was swept away by floods and Mangta Awan, who died to heart attack.

Many people lost their livestock and complaints are still being made of the stock they didn’t find.

SDM Karnah, Dr. Ilyas confirming the losses said, “Despite our best efforts, we did our 100% but the setback was so profound that in actual only 60% has been achieved.”
