PULWAMA, SEPTEMBER 15: More than a dozen youth including two parents were detained by government forces during a nocturnal raid in twin villages of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.

Talking to Kashmir Images local residents of Ticken and Babhara said that around 11 pm government forces detained 17 locals from their respective villages.

“The forces detained two minors and their parents,” they said. They identified the minors as Sahil Turray, a class 6th student and Raina Izhar, 8th standard student.

“Mohammed Ashraf Turray, Sahil’s father and his uncle, Abdul Hamid Turray were also detained,” they added.

The villagers also said that a youth namely Basit Ahmad Qazi and his father, Manzoor Ahmad Qazi, were also detained during the raids from Ticken.

The other detainees as identified by locals of Ticken are: Ghulam Nabi Lone, Abdul Hamid Lone, Rayees Ahmad Lone, Feroz Ahmad Sheikh, Jasif Ahmad Wani, Shahid Ahmad Wagay and Muzamil Ahmad Qazi.

Villagers from Babhara said that four people were detained from the village by government forces in a similar raid.

Witnesses said, a spontaneous shutdown was observed in Ticken and Babhara on Saturday morning and the protesters blocked Pulwama-Rajpora road till afternoon.

A senior police official in Pulwama said, “The persons who have been detained were involved in the stone pelting during cordon and search operation on Friday evening.
