SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 14: Secretary Social Welfare Department Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone today chaired a meeting to review the functioning of Jammu & Kashmir Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes & Backward Classes Development Corporation.

The meeting held threadbare discussions on the steps taken by the Corporation to deliver the benefits of the target groups in the shortest possible time and recover the overdues to strengthen its financial health.

It was given out that the management of the Corporation has improved its recovery position manifoldand also disbursed loans to the target groups to the tune of Rs 470.91 lakh up to ending August 2018 compared to Rs 181.50 lakhwith corresponding period of last year.

Besides, the Corporation sanctioned loan in favour of 135 beneficiaries to the tune of Rs 257 lakh in September 2018.

Regarding the recovery of overdues, the meeting was informed that the Corporation has recovered an amount of Rs 94 lakh in August 2018 and Rs 60 lakh up to 13th September 2018.

On the occasion, the Secretary appreciated the efforts of the management in infusing new vibrancy in the functioning of the Corporation.

Pertinently, the Development Corporation works under administrative control of Social Welfare Department for the socio-economic and educational uplift of SC, ST, BC, Notified National Minorities, Safai Karamcharis their dependents, handicapped including disabled in the State.
