Advisor Kumar visits Gurez; Reviews status of developmental projects

BANDIPORA, SEPTEMBER 01: Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar today visited Gurez to review the developmental profile and security scenario in the border Sub-Division of district Bandipora.

Principal Secretary Health & Medical Education, Dr Pawan Kotwal, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, ASP Bandipora and district officers were present on the occasion.

To review the pace of developmental activities in the Gurez Sub Division, the Advisor convened a meeting with the district officers of various departments and was apprised of status of works and activities being carried out by their departments for the betterment of the people.

DC Bandipora, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary gave a detailed presentation about the achievements registered and ongoing projects in Gurez along with their present status.

The Advisor was informed that for 7 major ongoing projects, out of Rs 17.36 crore, Rs 4.49 crore has been utilized which includes construction of Dak Bungalow, Mini Secretariat, Indoor Sports Complex, Engineering Complex, ITI Gurez and Wanpora to Markote road.

Regarding bridges and road projects in Gurez, it was given out that an amount of Rs 24.36 crore has been incurred on these projects till date out of total cost of Rs 45.38 crore.

Further, the DC informed the Advisor about the status of various CRF and BADP projects and apprised him about the expenditure made on these projects till date.

The Advisor also interacted with the district officers and sought the details of activities their respective departments are carried out for the people of this border area. He reviewed the performance and activities of key departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Health and Education. Besides, he also reviewed power scenario in the area.

K Vijay Kumar directed district officers to regularly visit Gurez to take on spot review of developmental works there.  He also asked them to mobilize the field staff for redressal of genuine grievances and effective implementation of different state and central sponsored schemes.

The Advisor stressed on timely completion of on-going projects to avoid cost and also asked to ensure quality of works.

Later, the Advisor visited Sub District Hospital Dawar and took stock of its functioning. He inspected various wards, units and interacted with the doctors and staff posted at this health facility.

He took detailed brief from the concerned officer regarding the facilities, flow of patients, rate of referral to tertiary care institutions, staff position, lab facilities, sanitation etc.

Later, the Advisor met with various public delegations who apprised him about various issues and concerns pertaining to the people of this border area.

The issue of shortage of doctors and other staff at the health facilities in the area was raised by the people. The Advisor asked Principal Secretary Health, Dr Pawan Kotwal to look into the issue and resolve it by providing requisite number of doctors and staff there.

After giving patient hearing to the issues raised, the Advisor assured the people that all the genuine concerns would be looked into and resolved on priority.

The Advisor also chaired a meeting with senior officers of Army, Police and Paramilitary force to discuss the overall law & order scenario in the Sub Division Gurez. He was briefed about the prevailing security situation in the area.
