She also interacted with patients and their attendants to seek feedback on the healthcare services being provided at the institution.

Emphasising the importance of emergency care, Itoo directed the administration to ensure round-the-clock availability of essential services and adequate deployment of doctors, paramedical staff and other support personnel.

She stressed that patients arriving in emergency situations must receive immediate attention, without avoidable procedural delays.

The minister also called for effective utilisation of the Golden Hour in emergency and trauma cases through prompt assessment, diagnosis and initiation of treatment. She directed the hospital administration to streamline emergency response protocols and improve coordination among doctors, nursing staff, diagnostic units and other departments.

During a meeting with the hospital administration, Itoo called for regular monitoring of cleanliness across wards, corridors, washrooms, waiting areas and the Emergency section. She also stressed proper disposal of biomedical waste and accountability of agencies and personnel responsible for sanitation.

The minister further emphasised optimal utilisation of the available infrastructure, medical equipment and human resources, and asked the administration to take timely corrective measures wherever deficiencies were identified.

She said GMC Jammu, as a major tertiary healthcare institution, had an important responsibility in providing accessible and quality healthcare, adding that patient care should be marked by timely services, dignity and a compassionate approach.
