SRINAGAR: Medical camps organised by the Pritam Spiritual Foundation (PSF) in collaboration with the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps at Uri and Zangli Garrison in Kupwara from October 12 to 22 provided assistance to hundreds of differently-abled people from North Kashmir.
According to the Ministry of Defence, 14 artificial limbs were fitted, 250 hearing-impaired beneficiaries received assistance and 258 assistive devices and appliances were distributed free of cost to eligible individuals from Kupwara and adjoining areas.
The camps were organised with the support of the Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), which works to provide assistive support to persons with disabilities.
The initiative aimed to improve access to specialised assistance and help beneficiaries lead more independent lives. It also brought together the Army and voluntary organisations to extend support to people with disabilities in the region.
The Ministry of Defence said the initiative reflected the Army’s continued engagement in humanitarian and welfare activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
