Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) general secretary (organisation) Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura on Tuesday accused the National Conference-led government of failing to fulfil its electoral promises and address public grievances.
Hanjura alleged that people were disappointed with the government’s performance and continued to face difficulties over issues that, he said, remained unaddressed despite commitments made in the election manifesto.
He said the people of Jammu and Kashmir deserved accountable governance and a responsive administration, adding that electoral promises should translate into tangible outcomes rather than remain political commitments.
Hanjura made the remarks while chairing a meeting of the party’s district and zonal presidents from Kashmir province to discuss organisational matters, review grassroots activities and improve coordination among party units.
He urged party representatives to maintain regular contact with the public, remain accessible in their respective areas and raise issues affecting people’s daily lives through appropriate channels.
The meeting also discussed strengthening the party’s organisational network, expanding public outreach and improving coordination between district and zonal leadership.
Hanjura stressed that direct engagement with people was necessary to understand local problems and ensure their grievances were brought to the attention of the concerned authorities.
Those present included PDP general secretary Mohammad Khursheed Alam, spokesperson Mohammad Iqbal Trumboo, former state secretary Arif Laigroo, district presidents Mohammad Afzal Wani, G.M. Shahoori, Abdul Qayoom Bhat, Zaffar Ullah Wani, Advocate Sheikh Javaid, Zahoor Ahmed Rather, Mohammad Yaseen Bhat and Aijaz Ahmed Mir, besides zonal presidents.
