Principal of the college, Dr. Aijaz Ahmad Hakak, said preventing drug abuse was a collective responsibility and called on students, teachers and civil society to work together to protect young people from substance abuse.

Syed Shakeel Shan, Assistant Exhibition and Cultural Officer at the Cultural Unit Kashmir, DIPR, urged students to draw inspiration from Kashmir’s Sufi heritage and the teachings of Sufi saints, which emphasise peace, compassion, discipline and moral integrity. He also encouraged them to focus on education, creativity, innovation and social service to resist negative influences and make responsible choices.

The programme featured thematic skits, musical performances and awareness speeches by artists of the Cultural Unit Kashmir and National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers from the college. The presentations highlighted the consequences of drug addiction and stressed the need for collective efforts to address substance abuse.

Faculty members, NSS officers, DIPR officials and students attended the programme. Mementoes and certificates of appreciation were presented to participating students, artists and the principal.

Prof. Wahid thanked DIPR for collaborating with the college and appreciated the efforts of the cultural unit, NSS volunteers and faculty members in organising the programme. He said the college would continue to support initiatives aimed at raising awareness among young people and promoting a drug-free society.
