Meerut: Bhupender Singh Bajwa was unanimously elected president of the Wushu Association of India (WAI) for the 2026–2030 term, while Suhel Ahmed was elected general secretary during the association’s elections held at Godwin Hotel in Meerut on Thursday.
Vijay Saraf was elected senior vice president and Bhavneet Handoo vice president. The elections were conducted by an electoral officer appointed by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), in accordance with the prescribed guidelines and governance provisions, the association said.
The Wushu Association of Jammu and Kashmir congratulated Saraf, its president, and Handoo, its general secretary, on their election to key positions in the national body.
The association expressed hope that their experience and involvement in Wushu administration would contribute to the sport’s development in Jammu and Kashmir.
Kuldeep Handoo, a Dronacharya Award recipient and technical chairman of the South Asian Wushu Federation, has also been entrusted with a key role in the affairs of the national association, according to the release.
The newly elected office-bearers and executive body will serve for the 2026–2030 term.
