Jammu, October 9: Jammu Tawi Golf Course (JTGC) at Sidhra has developed 10 water bodies and installed dedicated bird-feeding points across its premises to support local biodiversity and provide a more suitable habitat for birds and other wildlife.
The initiative aims to integrate environmental conservation with the management of sporting infrastructure by providing birds with access to water and designated feeding areas.
According to the golf course management, peacocks, geese, migratory birds and several other species have increasingly been spotted across the premises following the introduction of these facilities.
The management said the measures were intended to encourage birdlife and improve the ecological value of the golf course’s green spaces.
The presence of birds and other wildlife has also added to the natural surroundings enjoyed by golfers and visitors, offering opportunities to experience the landscape beyond the course’s playing areas.
The initiative highlights the potential of recreational facilities to incorporate biodiversity conservation into their operations while maintaining their primary sporting functions.
