JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir government and with NASSCOM as knowledge partner, will host the J&K GCC Summit 2026 on October 9 and 10 to explore the Union Territory’s potential as a destination for Global Capability Centres (GCCs).
The summit, to be held at IIM Jammu, is expected to bring together more than 300 delegates, including policymakers, industry leaders, investors, academics and representatives of the technology and GCC ecosystem.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, IIM Jammu Director Prof B.S. Sahay said the summit was aimed at creating awareness about Jammu and Kashmir’s potential as a GCC destination and facilitating engagement between government and industry stakeholders.
He said around 45 companies and over 55 industry leaders would participate in the event. Prof Sahay clarified that the summit was not an investment summit but an effort to build an ecosystem capable of attracting GCC operations and generating employment opportunities in the region.
Global Capability Centres are offshore or regional hubs established by multinational companies to manage functions such as technology development, product engineering, analytics, research and development, finance and business operations.
According to the organisers, the summit will focus on how GCC investments can contribute to employment generation, skills development and economic diversification in Jammu and Kashmir. Discussions will also cover infrastructure readiness, policy support, investment facilitation and industry-academia collaboration.
Secretary, Labour and Employment Department, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, said the GCC model could help create employment opportunities for Jammu and Kashmir’s growing pool of educated youth, particularly in knowledge-based sectors such as technology, analytics, finance and human resources.
He said the development of a GCC ecosystem could also have wider economic benefits through direct and indirect job creation and support for allied services.
The summit will feature six panel discussions over two days, focusing on government-industry collaboration, investment opportunities, technology, innovation, talent development and policy frameworks required to establish Jammu and Kashmir as a competitive GCC destination.
Among those expected to participate are Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, NASSCOM President Rajesh Nambiar, NIIT Chairman Rajendra Singh Pawar, senior government officials, industry executives and representatives from consulting, technology and investment firms.
Organisers said the event is also expected to facilitate discussions on potential investment proposals, industry partnerships and workforce development initiatives. The deliberations are intended to contribute to a roadmap for GCC development in Jammu and Kashmir and support long-term employment and economic growth in the Union Territory.
The summit will open on Friday with inaugural addresses by senior government officials and industry leaders, followed by thematic sessions on investment, technology, talent development and emerging opportunities in the GCC sector.
