SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Branch of the Northern India Regional Council (NIRC) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on Thursday organised an industrial visit for Chartered Accountancy students to the Jammu and Kashmir Milk Producers Cooperative Limited (JKMPCL) milk plant in Srinagar.

According to an official statement, a large number of CA students from across the Kashmir Valley participated in the visit, which aimed to provide practical exposure to industrial operations, supply chain management and manufacturing processes in the dairy sector.

During the visit, JKMPCL Plant In-charge Hamid briefed the students on the functioning of the cooperative and its operations. The participants were taken through various sections of the plant and given an overview of milk procurement, quality control procedures, dairy product manufacturing, distribution and marketing systems.

The students also observed the processing of dairy products, including milk, ghee, paneer and curd, and were introduced to hygiene standards, quality assurance measures and operational management practices followed by the plant.

ICAI J&K Branch Chairman Amit Gupta said industrial visits help students connect classroom learning with practical industry experience and gain a better understanding of business and industrial environments.

The branch said the programme was part of its efforts to expand student-focused activities across the Union Territory and provide aspiring chartered accountants with greater exposure to industry practices. It added that similar initiatives would be organised in future to support professional development and practical learning among students.
