MLA reviews tourism projects in Shopian

Field visit covers Bohrihalan, Dubjan and Peer Ki Gali destinations

SHOPIAN: MLA Shopian Shabir Ahmad Kullay on Wednesday reviewed the progress of ongoing and proposed tourism development projects in the district and called for greater coordination among departments to ensure timely completion of infrastructure works.

Chairing a review meeting at the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) in Bohrihalan, Kullay assessed the status of tourism-related projects and discussed issues affecting their implementation. He directed concerned departments to work in a time-bound manner and remove bottlenecks delaying execution of works.

The MLA also asked the Forest and Wildlife departments to expedite permissions and clearances required for tourism development projects.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Executive Officer of the Shopian-Dubjan-Peer Ki Gali Tourism Development Authority (SDPKG-TDA), Executive Engineers of the Public Works (Roads and Buildings), Jal Shakti and Electric divisions, the Divisional Forest Officer (Territorial), Tehsildars of Shopian and Keller, the Executive Officer of Municipal Council Shopian and the Assistant Tourist Officer Shopian.

Later, Kullay conducted an inspection of major tourist destinations, including Bohrihalan, Dubjan and Peer Ki Gali, to review the progress of ongoing works and assess requirements for future development.

Officials accompanying the MLA examined site-specific infrastructure needs and discussed the scope for new tourism initiatives in the area.

During the visit, Kullay said coordinated efforts among departments were necessary to improve visitor facilities, promote tourism and create livelihood opportunities for local communities.
