Jammu: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Youth Services and Sports, Science and Technology, Information Technology, and ARI & Trainings, Satish Sharma, on Friday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development projects worth around ₹13 crore in the Chhamb Assembly constituency.
During his visit to Akhnoor, Barui Sangani, Kandi, Balla, Maira-Sather and Payain, the minister launched a series of projects aimed at improving road connectivity, administrative infrastructure and public utility services.
At Akhnoor, Sharma laid the foundation stone for a Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO) building to strengthen the field-level functioning of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department.
He also laid the foundation stone for a road project at Bandi Mohalla, Barui Sangani, and launched construction of a road from Middle School Kandi to Kandi East. In Kandi, he additionally laid foundation stones for a lane and culvert project aimed at improving local connectivity.
At Mohalla Bachan Singh in Balla, the minister laid the foundation stone for a link road, while at Maira-Sather he inaugurated the blacktopping of the Maira-Sather road.
In Payain Panchayat Balgara, Sharma laid the foundation stone for a link road at Mohalla ST and later inaugurated several Public Health Engineering (PHE) works aimed at strengthening water supply infrastructure in the area.
Interacting with residents, public representatives and officials during the visit, the minister reviewed issues related to roads, water supply and civic amenities and sought feedback on local development needs.
Sharma directed executing agencies to ensure quality standards and timely completion of ongoing works. He said infrastructure projects should result in tangible improvements in public services and quality of life.
He also stressed the importance of regular monitoring, field inspections and coordination among departments to ensure efficient implementation of development projects across the constituency.
