Jammu: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
The programme was led by J&K BJP president and Rajya Sabha member Sat Sharma and attended by senior party leaders, including vice-presidents Priya Sethi, Rakesh Mahajan and Rekha Mahajan, general secretary Gopal Mahajan, MLA Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal, office secretary Tilak Raj Gupta and district president Naresh Singh Jasrotia, among others.
Addressing party workers, Sharma said Gandhi and Shastri represented values of truth, simplicity, patriotism and public service. He said Gandhi’s teachings on non-violence, cleanliness and social harmony continued to inspire people, while Shastri’s life reflected humility, integrity and commitment to national service.
Sharma urged party workers to draw inspiration from the ideals of the two leaders and strengthen the spirit of service, discipline and responsibility in public life.
During the programme, BJP leaders offered floral tributes to portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. Officials said the gathering also remembered the contributions of both leaders to the nation.
