Ramban: Thirty-three tourists from West Bengal were injured after their bus overturned on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Marog in Ramban district on Thursday, officials said.
The bus, bearing registration number WB 41K 2929, was travelling from Srinagar to Jammu when the accident occurred.
All the injured passengers were rescued and shifted to District Hospital Ramban for treatment. Of them, nine were referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for specialised medical care, officials said.
Following the accident, the district administration launched a rescue operation under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan. SSP Traffic NHW Raja Adil Hameed, Additional Deputy Commissioner Varunjeet Singh Charak, Additional SP Majeeb-ur-Rehman, ACR Shokat Hayat Mattoo and other officers reached the spot to oversee rescue and evacuation efforts.
Personnel from J&K Police, CRPF, Civil QRT Ramban and the civil administration participated in the operation and ensured the safe evacuation of the injured.
Senior officers later visited District Hospital Ramban to review treatment arrangements. Authorities directed hospital officials to provide all necessary medical care to the injured tourists.
The district administration said it continued to monitor rescue, evacuation and healthcare arrangements to ensure timely assistance to those affected.
