SRINAGAR: National Conference MLA from Habba Kadal, Shameema Firdous, on Saturday reviewed ongoing development works in various parts of her constituency and laid the foundation stone for a drainage project at Gol Market in Karan Nagar.
According to party sources, the drainage project, estimated to cost ₹27 lakh, will cover around 200 metres and is intended to address drainage issues in the area. Firdous also announced that another drainage work, estimated at ₹12 lakh, would be taken up in the locality.
During the visit, she inspected ongoing development works worth around ₹1 crore in Dal Hassan Yar, Purshiar, Fateh Kadal, Kazgari Masjid and Barbar Shah areas. She directed the concerned departments to ensure quality standards and timely completion of the projects.
Speaking on the occasion, Firdous said the government was undertaking development works aimed at improving basic amenities and public services. She said projects relating to roads, drainage, drinking water, electricity, healthcare and transport were being implemented in accordance with local requirements.
The MLA also highlighted various welfare measures being implemented by the government, including free ration for eligible beneficiaries, free travel for women and specially abled persons in government buses, enhanced marriage assistance for deserving girls, employment and self-employment initiatives, and efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure.
Firdous, who is also president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Women’s Wing, said addressing public concerns and improving civic infrastructure remained a priority in the constituency.
