SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said it attached a residential property in Baramulla district under provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in connection with a terrorism-related case.
According to a police statement, the property was attached under Section 25 of the UAPA in connection with FIR No. 37/2026 registered at Police Station Sheeri under Sections 7 and 25 of the Arms Act and various provisions of the UAPA.
Police identified the property as a double-storeyed residential house built on land bearing Survey No. 423 at Namblan village in Sheeri area of Baramulla. The property belongs to Aijaz Ahmad Ganie, son of late Mohammad Sultan Ganie.
Police claimed that during investigation, the property was found, prima facie, to have been used for providing shelter and logistical support to militants and facilitating militant activities, attracting provisions of the UAPA relating to proceeds of terrorism.
The attachment was carried out after obtaining approval from the Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, through an order issued on September 22, 2026, police said.
A public notice has also been affixed at the property, prohibiting its sale, transfer, lease, mortgage or creation of any third-party interest.
Police said the action was part of efforts to dismantle the support infrastructure of militant networks and proceed against persons and properties allegedly involved in facilitating militant activities in accordance with law.
