HANDWARA: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar, on Sunday reviewed the security situation and operational preparedness in Handwara, with a focus on counter-terrorism measures, law and order management and crime control.
The review meeting was attended by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, North Kashmir Range, Dr Vinod Kumar.
According to officials, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Handwara Tahir Saleem Khan briefed the IGP on various security-related issues, including ongoing counter-terrorism operations, intelligence inputs, area domination measures, security arrangements at vulnerable locations and the overall crime scenario in the district.
During the meeting, Kumar emphasised the need for a public-friendly approach to policing, improved crime disposal and strategies tailored to evolving field requirements.
He also stressed the importance of maintaining operational readiness and ensuring a prompt response to emerging security and law and order challenges.
The IGP appreciated the work of police personnel deployed in operational areas and urged them to remain vigilant and continue performing their duties effectively to ensure public safety and security, officials said. (GNS)
