SAMBA: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Saturday held a public outreach programme under its “Chaupal Pe Charcha” campaign in Ramgarh area of Samba district, with party leaders focusing on issues including restoration of statehood, unemployment, recruitment and public services.
The programme was addressed by JKPCC president Tariq Hameed Karra and working president Raman Bhalla and was organised by former minister Yash Pal Kundal. District Congress Committee Samba president Sanjeev Sharma and other party leaders were also present.
Addressing the gathering, Karra said the initiative was aimed at providing people a platform to raise issues affecting their daily lives. According to a party statement, he said concerns related to employment, recruitment, public services, rising prices and the future of Jammu and Kashmir’s youth required sustained attention.
Karra reiterated the Congress party’s demand for restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and said the party would continue to raise issues concerning unemployed youth and public services at various forums.
Bhalla said the outreach programme was intended to maintain direct contact with people and understand local concerns. He highlighted issues related to employment opportunities, recruitment and examination processes, vacancies in education and healthcare sectors, and the concerns of daily wage workers.
According to the statement, Bhalla said grassroots interactions would help the party better understand local issues and raise them before the concerned authorities.
Former minister Yash Pal Kundal said such programmes enabled people to directly convey their concerns to senior party leaders, while Sanjeev Sharma said the district unit would continue organising similar interactions.
Several Congress leaders, office-bearers, workers and local residents attended the programme.
