SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather on Tuesday reviewed preparations for the forthcoming Autumn Session of the Assembly and directed departments to ensure all arrangements are put in place before the session begins on September 21 in Srinagar.
At a meeting attended by senior civil and police officials, Rather stressed the need for coordination and advance planning for the smooth conduct of the session.
The Speaker reviewed security, legislative, transport, traffic and civic arrangements and directed authorities to ensure comprehensive security measures at the Assembly Secretariat and MLA Hostel.
He asked the General Administration Department (GAD) to ensure that replies to Assembly questions are furnished within the prescribed timelines and directed departments to designate nodal officers for coordination with the Legislative Assembly Secretariat.
Rather also instructed departments to submit government bills to the Assembly Secretariat well in advance to facilitate their processing and scheduling during the session.
The meeting was informed that the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) would be implemented on a hybrid model. The Speaker directed the Information Technology Department to ensure uninterrupted internet connectivity and technical support during the proceedings.
He also reviewed traffic and parking arrangements and asked authorities to minimise inconvenience to the public during the session.
The Public Health Engineering and Power Development departments were directed to ensure uninterrupted water and electricity supply, while the Srinagar Municipal Corporation was asked to maintain sanitation and cleanliness around the Assembly complex and MLA Hostel.
The Health and AYUSH departments were instructed to provide adequate medical facilities for legislators, staff and visitors. The Information Department was asked to make arrangements for media coverage and ensure coordination of press-related activities during the session.
Rather called upon all departments to work in close coordination with the Assembly Secretariat and complete the required arrangements before the commencement of the session.
