SRINAGAR: Police have arrested six drug peddlers in Baramulla, Bandipora, Awantipora and Shopian districts and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesperson informed that in Baramulla, police apprehended Syed Ahmad Shah, a resident of Devar, after approximately two grams of heroin-like substance, one mobile phone and ₹4,000 cash were recovered from him.
In Bandipora, at Shok Baba Sumlar, police intercepted a scooty (JK15C-5452) and recovered a polythene bag containing 1.150 Kg of cannabis-like substance from it. Harris Fayaz, a resident of T.A. Shah, who was driving the scooty was arrested and the vehicle seized.
At Sangri Top, Aloosa one Umar Lateef Ganie of Krankshiv Colony, Sopore, was arrested after approximately 53 grams of cannabis was recovered from his possession.
In Awantipora, at Punzoo Shaldraman, one Maqsood Ahmad Lone of Chak Noorpora, was arrested and his autorickshaw (JK13D-8919) seized after approximately 1.50 kg of poppy straw was recovered from him.
At YK Pora in Kulgam, nine sticks of cannabis-like substance weighing approximately 106 grams were recovered from the possession of Zahoor Ahmad Itoo, of Sonigam, Kulgam.
During checking at Bongam, Shopian, police recovered 21 bottles of liquor from one Manthan Nitesh, a resident of Maharashtra, presently residing at Alyalpora Shopian.
In another action at Darazpora, police arrested Faisal Rahid Bhat of Sansamil Pulwama after 112 grams of cannabis powder-like substance was recovered from his possession.
Cases under relevant laws have been registered in concerned police stations in all these instances, police said.
