KISHTWAR: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Tuesday held a public outreach programme at Chatroo in Kishtwar district and announced the establishment of a small industrial estate in the area to promote local economic activity and employment opportunities.
The outreach programme was held at the Tourist Reception Centre in Chatroo on the second day of the Deputy Chief Minister’s two-day visit to the district. MLA Inderwal Pyare Lal Sharma was also present.
During the interaction, residents projected several demands, including the establishment of a Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Chatroo, upgradation of PHC Nali, construction of proper drainage along the NHIDCL Kishtwar-Sinthan road, setting up of a Government Women’s College for Mughal Maidan, resolution of unscheduled power cuts, upgradation of Higher Secondary School Chingam, establishment of a school for students from Special Tribal Communities, construction of a Gujjar-Bakarwal hostel at Mughal Maidan and measures to address water scarcity in the area.
MLA Inderwal raised the issue of compensation related to road projects and urged the Deputy Chief Minister to take up the matter with higher authorities. He also highlighted issues concerning several road projects, including Bunda-Mundil, Wanipora-Zaidhar, Markhal-Gugnar, Sheikhpora-Buttpora, Horna-Drubeer, Kakadwagan-Satarwagan, Moori-Bunjwah Road and Sigdi-Hindgam Road.
Choudhary listened to the grievances and assured the public that their genuine concerns would be addressed on priority.
On the occasion, he announced the establishment of a small industrial estate at Chatroo and directed the concerned departments to identify suitable land and conduct a feasibility assessment for the project.
The Deputy Chief Minister also urged unemployed youth to take advantage of the Mission Yuva Scheme, saying the programme provides financial assistance without mortgage or guarantee, enabling young people to start their own enterprises and become self-reliant.
