SRINAGAR: Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Cooperative and Election Departments, Javid Ahmad Dar on Tuesday reviewed the progress of ongoing forest and road connectivity projects in Rafiabad, directing officials to ensure timely completion of works and strengthen coordination between departments.
The review meeting was attended by the Chief Conservator of Forests Kashmir, Chief Engineer PMGSY Kashmir, Conservator of Forests North Kashmir, Superintending Engineer PMGSY, Divisional Forest Officers of Langate and Baramulla and other concerned officials.
During the meeting, the Minister assessed the status of road projects being executed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and other Capex-funded schemes in Rafiabad and adjoining areas. He sought project-wise updates regarding progress, completion timelines and issues affecting execution.
Highlighting the importance of road connectivity for socio-economic development, Dar said reliable road infrastructure is essential for effective implementation of welfare schemes and improving access to services in rural and remote areas.
He directed officials to ensure all ongoing PMGSY and Capex-funded road projects are completed within stipulated timelines while maintaining quality standards and ensuring judicious use of public funds.
The Minister stressed the need for better coordination among departments to remove bottlenecks, streamline project execution and ensure timely delivery of development benefits to the people.
Referring to the tourism potential of Rafiabad and adjoining areas, Dar said infrastructure development should be undertaken in a manner that promotes economic opportunities while safeguarding the region’s ecological balance and forest wealth.
“Development and environmental conservation must go hand in hand. Modern infrastructure should be created without compromising the natural resources and forest identity of the region,” he said.
The Minister called for coordinated planning and execution of infrastructure projects to ensure developmental needs are met in a sustainable manner. He also directed officials to resolve pending issues on priority and expedite necessary clearances to avoid delays in key public infrastructure works.
Dar further asked the Forest and PMGSY departments to work in close coordination to address inter-departmental issues and accelerate road connectivity projects in Rafiabad and adjoining areas.
